Like others in this crew I was only 18 Years old at the end of the Fourth Frontier War. My parents said I was bright enough for university, but like my father I had a yearning for a military career and thirst for adventure in the wild frontier and so I applied to the Military Academy located at PAX RULIN and was accepted. I graduated at age 22 and immediately enrolled for my chosen career as a Marine-Star Marine.

During the Fourth Frontier War, the Imperial Navy becomes aware of the level of activity of the Zhodani Consulate in Trojan Reach sector. [1083] Ine Givar agents attempt to recruit the Tanoose Freedom League on Garda-Vilis (Spinward Marches 1119) [1083-???] Not knowing to what the extent the conflict now raging across the Spinward edge of the Third Imperium will decrease staffing, Sector military branches increase recruiting to fill out ranks, replace current losses and anticipate casualties. [1084-???] [Imperial Naval Intelligence - Not common knowledge] A Zhodani task force overwhelms the Imperial light cruiser Alchemda, a Imperial Marine garrison and its major munitions stores, killing all life on Ganulph (Trojan Reach 1307) rendering it barren. [1084] Date: 1084-??? 154th Battle Rider Squadron is involved in the long-range strike at Chronor (Spinward Marches 0304). 154th Battle Rider Squadron takes part in the Battle of Two Suns, fought in deep space between Yres (Spinward Marches 1802) and Menorb (Spinward Marches 1803) ends the Fourth Frontier War with heavy losses on both Imperial and Zhodani sides. This all takes place prior to 'Crockett' arriving at Academy for his 1st Term of Military training.

1104-341-1400 hrs -- Crockett arrives Marduk docked-PIONEER Thinking out loud: They've sent me here to the 'Pioneer' but where the heck is the crew? Maybe there is a robot or some other character around that can at least welcome me and show me my quarters. I'm told that my old friend-for-life (What's her name) has a former significant one about to arrive as well so I guess I won't be alone too long.
Better do a look around and see if I can find anyone....and at same time keep eye open for a deck plan of this whatever-it-is....??? some kind of floating lab ship.....Right now a bit of a mystery...
Great to see my old contact Mikhel aboard....we seem to be involved in some kind of attack (who knows where from) on Marduk itself...Mikhel's doing what he can to figure it out on the bridge of the Pioneer here...and I've gone to defend the cargo space...

Meanwhile: on Day 351- roughly 8:30am 'Crockett' departs Pioneer for Torpol Highport and searches for new opportunity Following delightful afternoon with tourist guide MILIANI and chat with prospective crew hire MARTIN at Quasiland Resort on planet side of Torpol, Crockett learns more about the local environment of the water world of Torpol.
(borrowed research) Commerce is, to a great extent, at the heart of life on Torpol. The ruling Provosts are essentially merchant princes, and many have extensive offworld holdings. Some of the mining operations of the inner belt are owned by or do regular business with certain Provosts, whilst others own one or more commercial spacecraft and starships. A lot of money changes hands at Torpol Highport; the Provosts work hard to create an atmosphere where trade and commerce are easy to accomplish. Thus, despite a high law level, Torpol's rules and regulations are surprisingly straightforward for most activities.
Interesting to me (Crockett) are these business opportunities that could follow from learning more about the important two major trade routes that pass thru Torpol, the availability of spacecraft owned by local mining operations, and the influence and assets held by some of the local Provosts at the Highport.
Strategy and plan for this day is to work hard at finding a spacecraft here on Torpol that could be persuaded to provide transportation for Crockett to get to Drinax on his own and possibly one that could provide an alternative vessel for Drinax and what lies beyond for not only Crockett but also his fellow travellers. I am convinced that the "PIONEER" will not be the vessel of choice post Drinax...so why stay aboard any longer than necessary.
2:00pm Have unproductive meeting with "Martin". I was hoping he might assist me this day in finding transportation and maybe other crew but he was a bit cautious so I moved on.
7:00pm (???) ..Crockett meets Mikhel to interview SILAS LANE...in hopes he had a lead on a ship...but this too a bust.
8:00pm My helpful first concierge (Miliani) then got me to Highport
10:00pm .....As his busy day comes to a close, Crockett says Good Day to Miliani and greets his new guide Master Shlito and provides his growing wish list for consideration and possible help. 10:10pm......Crockett enjoys evening refreshment and contemplation as he awaits Master Shlito thoughts about evening crawl of watering holes to find an entrepreneurial captain!!!

Well well...Happy New Year to myself...We met with His Majesty today and he offers a tantalizing challenge and "maybe" an opportunity.
However...however...Will the Harrier/V'burg be up to scratch and of much use for ANY purpose pirating or otherwise...I'm not opposed
to this concept at all....just not sure it is the right approach to rebuild reputation and respect for the old Kingdom...
Sort of warm to what Mikhel is proposing re attempting to re-establish a mining operation so mind open on that as well...
If all else fails I will simply try to return to TORPOL and wait for dust to settle...BUT....the new CAPTAIN of the V'Burg makes
an argument that Crockett should really be part of the shake down cruise if he really wants to throw in with them...
Will see what the briefing at 1500 hrs with HIS MAJESTY produces for more intel.

Day 002 Dinner last night aboard the Ship of UNITY was most successful from my point of view. I was able to get a formal agreement with Provost Falx that provides for him to introduce me to helpful contacts on Torpol that can help guide me in my mining operation plans. MIKHEL was offered arrangement but turned it down for reasons I don't fully understand, so I took it in hopes of learning things that can help with overall group objectives. I seem to have bonded a bit with Admiral Harrison who is now aboard the 'harrier' *whatever it is to be called" on its shakedown cruise that could last another 10-14 days it appears. I do wish them good luck...but I fear they still lack a team approach which could impact their chances of success. Oh well. Thought I should attempt to figure out my cash flow situation before we get too far into this new year. I am aboard the UNITY bound for return to TORPOL and we depart at 0900 or earlier this morning.//

Good discussion with Provost Falx this day regarding his contract with me for certain deliverables when we arrive Torpol.//
(Provost Falx)"So we have two branches to pursue. The first is the actual mining rights, the second is the transport of such products put out by those mines. Did you consider weather you wanted to just extract ore and such? or were you looking to build in fabricators to convert those into usable goods?"//
(Crockett replied) I'm thinking that this old marine needs to learn a bit about the mining process and therefor in addition to learning soon about how one goes about obtaining mining rights in the Torpol region of control....I might also be introduced to a corporation individual with interests in mining so I might actually sign on to an existing mining operation to learn the ropes for a while...and hopefully get paid for my time while I'm at it....What do you think about that approach?//

I will find the right person to talk with you about management. You do not need to learn mining, you need to learn managing mines. I will correct you that you are not going to get any mining rights in the Torpol system. Those are very well sewn up. That is someone that I am going to introduce you to. The third largest corporation, they will be looking for way to expand and adding Drinax might be a thing they would desire."//
