On Board Pioneer
In Jump between Blue and Torpol, having spent a few weeks working around the Med Bay and the ship, Mikhel starts making suggestions to the crew about visiting the Med Bay for a baseline medical. It is all good to have a Medic on board, but what is the general health of the crew? Are there pre-existing conditions that could be looked into to improve the health of the individuals? Also, if there are peculiarities in any sophont's medical condition, it is best not to be guessing when chaos has overtaken the ship.
Mikhel will request participation, not demand it, unless the Ship's Captain has policies in place. Then, Mikhel will apply the policies, gently.
Out of Character:
OldGuy59: Timeline and actions within the game: Did Mikhel ride from Exocet to Marduk on the "Pioneer", and was he hired on? Hired as the Ship's Doctor? Has he had a chance to inventory and calibrate any equipment? Has he done baseline medicals on all the crew?
BOB: Yes yes yes and no. Jerdehl managed to avoid comprehensive medical testing
OldGuy59: KK. Interesting.
BOB: For game play purposes I have told Carissa that she has done benevolent neglect with the crew. As long as someone does not mess up a lab report or an experiment she is working on she let's the ship just run. So yes you are the official medic on board because Sultana thought hey we need a medic.
OldGuy59: KK. Unless there is a ship's policy directing everyone to have a medical on file, I will present the "opportunity" to all that a baseline is awesome so the Ship's Doctor know's what's normal for each sophont. It is too late to figure out normal when patching up seriously injured/sick sophonts during a crisis.
BOB: Exactly. And unless someone else specifically says no you can run with the idea that you have those scans.
