Crockett, Mikhel, Sultana, Harison, and Ranough arrive at the practice range.
"Hello there, I am range officer Whilham and I will be your host today. It is always a good thing to take time out of your leave to keep your skills fresh for the return to duty. We here at Live Simulations do our best to create realistic scenarios for you to keep your skills sharp.
(Whilham)"The exercise we have set for you based on the questionnaire you submitted includes an Aslan boarding party attempting to take over your ship. We have added the wounded captain as requested the Vargr gives a deep chuckle and winks at Sultana and Mikhel So that your medic will have an active role in the situation. You have the room booked for one hour, you can run through the simulation as many times as you wish. All your weapons are close facsimiles to the ones that you requested. All suited for live fire exercises without any chance of permanent deadly damage. Enjoy your exercise.
"Equipment check." Lt. Sultana pulls out the pistol, looks down the sight, and otherwise checks to make sure it's in good working order (without pointing it away from the floor or towards anyone). He then holsters it back again and draws his sabre and looks down the blade to make sure it's still straight. He then slides it back into its sheathe and stands there until the others have done their checks.
”Thank you Mr Whilham every thing looks and sounds good.” Harison walks over to the displayed weapons and picks up a pistol, looks it over, checks the sights when he’s happy he puts it in a holster. Then picks up a sabre gives it a swing to make sure it’s all okay and balanced alright. Then signals to the others that he is all set.
Harison thinks to himself he hasn’t participated in these type of training exercises in a very long time. He would’ve oversee a lot of these on the ship not to give pointers or lessons but more for the morale of those participating. But he always would’ve kept on top of his gun and sword play as you never know when your ship might be boarded. The vast majority of he’s combat experience was ship to ship combat.
So going into this, he was going to let the Marines take the lead as they are the pros and this is there area of expertise. He would cover there backs as they take point.
Mikhel checks his harness, pouches and the heft of his backpack. He does the holster test on his stunner on his right hip, and the cross-draw holster of his Snub Pistol on his left. There is a bayonet scabbard taped to his upper left strap of his harness, with the grip just below his heart. The others will note that there are three magazines arranged near the Snub Pistol, one white, two red. The base of the magazine in the Snub Pistol appears to be white. Mikhel is in scrubby coveralls, and large combat-style, lace-up boots with significantly treaded soles. However, Mikhel moves with nearly no sound of his footfalls.
"If we are going afield, or on the ground, I'm carrying what I'd have on now. On ship, if we were doing anti-boarding routine, I'd carry a lot less. On board our ship, I wouldn't bring the Snub Pistol, unless we knew we were facing armored opponents. Because we are in a scenario where we will be boarding a hostile ship, I'm bringing everything. Besides. I need the workout. Months of not doing patrols and Navy ship routine, and I'm getting soft."
"I suggest Crockett take the lead, as the trained professional. I'll follow, then our Medic in the middle, with Ranough and the Admiral as rearguard. The goal, as I understand it," he looks over at the hosts for comfirmation, "is to find the captured Captain and repel the boarders. Stick together, cover each other, watch the flanks. Crockett, we'll form up on you and follow your lead."
”Sound plan Lieutenant.” As Harison give him a nod to acknowledge the plan.
[Much as Mikhel-the other trained marine did-- Crockett checks his harness, pouches and the heft of his backpack.
"OK squad...listen up...We're going to find these Aslan fellows....not only end their little fun and games...but end them for good...i.e. We will not be taking prisoners...rules of engagement are TAKE ACTION AT WILL...and try your best not to rupture our hull or take out any important instrumentation....Normally I'd suggest we split up...but for now let's remain together until we better understand what we're up against...(Drawing his Snub Pistol in left hand (he is right handed normally)..and pulling out his bayonet scabbard he moves off in direction of suspected location of enemy boarders....Prior to movement he says "No offense Sultana but I want the "Doc" right behind me"... signals Mikhel to drop in #2 position behind him...and motions for others (the Ranough, the Admiral, Sultana), to fall in behind.
(Now if only Jim can find the deck plan again and the setup for target practice!!!! )
[which he did by doing the double click on 'Crockett' icon in combat tracker...whoppee] Found Aslan 1 in room to north of us....missed first shot as no ammo and no target visible; tried again with Laser Pistol (TL 09) and rolled OK but not sure if FG system registered that I had a target or not....then tried again and got a decent result of 9 +2 (not sure why the +2) but it was decent for firing...However again not sure if FG system knew I had a target or not...[checked and Crockett did score a hit but ARMOUR reduced DAMAGE] maybe Mikhel can follow me now and see if he can do better...(As while I did do my action out of turn on the combat tracker...BOB has adjusted initiative on combat tracker to match this RP]
"Home, Home on the Range"-- OK...combat tracker now follows RP here so...MIKHEL could come north and take a shot at this Aslan #1 maybe???
OldGuy59 can't figure out the Combat Tracker, and his rolls are poop. How do you target the ground for smoke grenades?
"Hey...before you throw that thing there Mikhel...see how long it lasts....If it's going to protect us maybe you could standby and let Sultana get in a shot first and then throw it to protect us all from incoming fire from the Aslan????....and we only have the range for an hour so next person on combat tracker should be at the ready...If that's Sultana let's get at it...why not move up here now while Mikhel fumbles around a bit with that smoke grenade? Take your shot! This is supposed to simulated actual combat environment right?
