Mikhel is on overnight duty for the Jump Emergence watch. It has been almost 24 hours and the midway point of expected emergence is during Sultana's standard morning watch. As Mikhel puts the final touches on his communications to send out sometime during the day the BONG of the Pilot controls alerts him that emergence is imminent. Mikhel poises his hands over the controls for any quick maneuvers needed. Unlikely but a high traffic area like Torpol would make any experienced pilot careful. As the Jump bubble dissolves and normal space steadies around him Mikhel see the Torpol system spread out before him. System traffic looks normal as far as he can tell.
Mikhel confirms that Eduardo's plotted course matches where they emerged. Checking Sultana's chart for the system Mikhel can see that it will take just over three and a half hours from their current position to reach the Highport.
The first day of the year is a holiday and is not part of any week.
For example, The first day (Holiday) of the year 1105 is 001-1105 and the last day of the year is 365-1105.
Link-> Imperial Calendar
Sometime after breakout from Jump, Mikhel will transmit Holiday messages to his "Holiday Card List" addressees. Besides now-Colonel Rushanii, it will include, of course, Amanda Parsons, as well as Rear Admiral Countess Nashu Darrashnu and Colonel Kaias Giirkaa. A small note to now-Lt Commander Kiiliani, telling him about the SAR mission he got to perform, would be of interest to his first Pilot Instructor. Also to the Keiinma family in memory of Lapabe, which is always a tough one to write.
Outgoing messages are transmitted and incoming messages are received over the first hour of arrival in system.
Upon the Pioneer exiting the jump bubble a <message> will relay to the ship's mail server quickly after.ATTENTION PIONEER SECURITY <CC: A. SOLIS, CAPT.>
It is roughly 2:30 for transmitting of messages, Rannogh can decide what time of the morning he would actually check his comm.
Crockett will, upon receiving notice that we are nearing end of Jump, set up process of checking of all luggage to be disembarked by passengers to search for items that should NOT be in their possession. He will also work with others to set up ship watch during period of docking (the Pinnace or Ship's Boat??) at Torpol and Pioneer will need some kind of defense watch on Bridge during this period.....shifts to be worked out following discussions with Lt.Sultana.

"Pioneer this is Torpol Highport. Welcome back to Torpol system Pioneer. Bring your ship into high station when you get to port. We will send a tanker out to refuel you when you are ready. Will you be taking shore leave? Will you be using your Pinnace? I have you registered as using the Voyager your last visit here. Also I see another small craft, the Suraksha, registered. Will that be two berthings? Highport? Lowport? Will you be unloading any cargo? Do you have any passengers? Mail tranmissions are ongoing. Torpol Highport out
"Torpol Highport, This is Pioneer.
Standby Pilot speaking. I will be bringing the Pioneer into shuttle distance, and I understand that Voyager will be our ferry boat. Refueling will await Captain's approval, a request will be sent by 08:00 hrs. Suraksha will likely stay docked with Pioneer for the duration. Any use will be through a filed flight plan, as per Torpol SOPs. We will be ferrying passengers, but all intentions on visiting Torpol have not been provided to the Standby Pilot. I expect that will be relayed with the Refueling Request. Ship's Time has us on Midnight Shift, currently at 02:10hrs. Sync with Local time would be appreciated."
"Rodger Pioneer. Bring her into the high station over the Highport. When in place have your pilot send over details before launching your ship's boats. Torpol Highport out

To Rannogh Protection Services, Torpol Main from M. Dromah, PSV Pioneer
Dear Red Lightning,
It is yor medic-alibi, Mikhel. My ship should be in port for a few days, if only at the High Port. If you can manage the time, perhaps we could meet up on the station?
Let me know if you can make it to the station, and I will try to arrange my schedule to match yours.
Mikhel
The Voyager, piloted by Sultana, takes the five passengers (Vellueo Goalnouk, Silas Lane, Yellon, Shantina, Nicola) and Veronica Sherris from the Researchers down to the Highport on the first run. Leaving Crocket, Mikhel, and other researchers waiting for the second trip.
With the Voyager off full of the passengers, and Sherris, and with other researchers waiting for the next trip, Athena takes a moment to relish her coffee and the quiet calm that comes with everyone finally getting off her ship. With no plans to go to Torpol today, she heads to her lab, excited for what should be uninterrupted time to focus on her experiments.
Upon arrival at the Highport station Sultana docks for the passengers to disembark. As Sultana is standing at the customs check in watching his passengers go through to the Highport and signing the request and payment forms for refueling payment something catches his eye.
Velleuo, Yellon, and Shantina head to the corridor for shuttles to the surface. Sherris immediately undoes her hair bun and gives a little shake as she moves towards the Highport entertainment wing. Silas heads over towards the security station. Before he can get there two security personnel come out when one of the customs officials waves them over. Nicola is standing there as the two approach her. They come up, seeming to ask for ID. A brief conversation and the two of them escort her off to a separate room near security.
Lt Sultana makes sure his paperwork is completed and the Pioneer locked and secured before making his way over to the customs officials. He's not passing through though. He waits until the older looking one of the two isn't as busy, then approaches them. "Good day. Sorry to bother you, but I noticed Security take an interest in one of my passengers. Any idea what that was about? If I'm going to be tied up in red tape and paperwork for hours I need to let my boss know, you know? Also, if Security is going to want to talk to me, I don't want to go into Port and accidentally seem like I'm hiding from them."
(Customs Offical)"Good morning sir. No problem at all, I do not have anything on my hold list for your ship or your crew. I am certain if anything does come up we will contact you. Though I cannot imagine why that would be, it is very rare that a ship is held accountable for their passengers. Most times even if a member of the crew violates some law it is on that sophont to be held accountable for their own actions." Checking his tablet " You are free to stay if you are not running a shuttle service for your crew. It must be hard dealing with a large crew, plus passengers and only a Pinnace to offload people."
Lt Sultana nods. "Good to know, thanks. Yeah, I've got at least one more run to make. So I'll be back in 30-60, depending on how quickly people actually board. He taps the counter in thanks and goes back on board the Voyager and preps it for departure. As the ship pulls out from station, he sends a quick message back to ship, "N picked up by station security."
Rannogh looked down at his PDA, read the from entry twice to double check himself "M. Dromah?" he scratched his furry chin. His eyes widened as he read the subject of the message, "Well I'll be damned, ol' Mikhel coming back to Torpol." he mouthed out loud.
Well of course I can meet you up at High-Port, we could catch up get some drinks maybe for old times sake He nodded as the progress bar indicated that the message had been dispatched. Wonder what ship he's workin' on Rannogh thought to himself as he checked his daily schedule.
[to Mikhel] Women and children first eh? So Sultana has kindly offered to take our current passengers down to TorpolStarport eh? Sounds like he intends to come back for us asap and take us down next...but if he does that then who is standing security watch for Pioneer? I'm thinking I'll do that and let you go down first...you agree with that plan???...I'm happy for you to do that as long as you keep your mobile comms tuned for anything urgent from me....Maybe we could do a radio check now to make sure...and by the way...did you get some kind of message from Sulatana that Nicola had been apparently apprehended by Torpol Security upon arrival????
Currently, Mikhel is on Bridge Watch, still. Been up for more than 10 hours, now. The Bridge Watch will warn if any unauthorized ship approaches, and advise if any security situation is developing. Mikhel wonders if the Master at Arms did a Comm Check with the Voyager Pilot?
Mikhel does some research on Torpol Shopping:
Checking online for any ads for a {special item}:
[SKILL] Electronics (2D+2)(vs Difficulty 10) [2d6+2 = 10]
[ +0 Effect] [Marginal SUCCESS] 10 minutes
If there is one advertised, it is likely a replica.
Checking for news on Tailors of Renown:
Mihkel Dromah: [SKILL] Electronics (2D+2) (vs Difficulty 8) [2d6+2 = 9]
[ +1 Effect] [Average SUCCESS] 5 minutes
Should be someone on the Station, or known on the planet:
Mihkel Dromah: [SKILL] Electronics (2D+2) (vs Difficulty 6?) [2d6+2 = 7]
[ +1 Effect] [Average SUCCESS] 5 minutes
This should have been at Routine [Success] or Average [Failure]
Checking for Fashion Shop on Torpol that Nika would likely patronize, and is there something on the Station:
Mihkel Dromah: [SKILL] Electronics (2D+2) (vs Difficulty 10) [2d6+2 = 8]
[ -2 Effect] [Average FAILURE] 10 minutes. This might have been successful, as finding a Fashion shop shouldn’t be Difficult.
Somewhere in the searches, Mikhel runs across an ad for PleasureStar apparel. Hmmm...
Link -> PleasureStar - Exclusive designer products to the more discerning and eclectic clientele!
Once on station, Mikhel will go snooping around to find a special rare item. This is done looking in specialty stores and custom purveyors. He will also check anything like a pawn shop.
Mihkel Dromah: [SKILL] Streetwise (2D+3) (vs Difficulty 12) [2d6+3 = 9]
[ -3 Effect] [Average FAILURE] 60 minutes.
Physical search for {special item} when on Torpol Highport.

Sultana returns to Pioneer. All passengers have departed the ship.
Hey Sultana...welcome back...Hope things down there were uneventful...except what is this about Nicola being apprehended by Torpol security? Were you able to learn anything about reasons why??? Althought I'd love to think I've been right all along about her....I do admit right now it could be nothing more than her Father listing her as being "missing" and so she was detained for only that....???? Meanwhile on security issues here on Pioneer...Do you have any thoughts about whether YOU, the "Doc" or myself should trade shifts or watches here while others are on Torpol...Mikhel seems to think all would be OK? I'm sort of tending to think one of us should remain and be on board at all times???...and did you learn anything we don't already know about law level down there on Torpol? Can we carry some weapons with us this time?
"If someone will do the honors on the Bridge Watch, I could get a refresh on my Pilot Endorsement. Anyone want to try a go at the Tactical Shooting Range at 'Have Gun, Will Practice'? I could check for teams, or any tourneys? And if anyone needs stuff, like specialty items, I could check for them. I want to put my head into any place like a tailors, to get started on a Mess Kit or Tuxedo. And, we need a watch rotation, and Shore Leave schedule put together. I have a local person with whom I'd like to carouse, sometime while we are here.
Crockett. Anything more lethal than a feather will get you arrested, dirt-side. Leave all your hardware on the ship. The Proctors have absolutely No sense of humor."
[Crockett to Sultana] Looks like weapons on Torpol are not a good idea...regardless I think someone should remain aboard the Pioneer for a shift and if Mikhel wants to keep a rendesvous or two and see his tailor asap...it can be me....but can we do a comms check before you leave this time so I know we can all remain in touch....I'm sure Mikhel is also interested in seeing what he can do for Nicola down there on Torpol.....somehow I'm guessing it could be not as it seems on the surface and that she'll be OK...I'm not getting soft....I just have this sixth sense about some things...and as much as I'd like to be saying "I told you so" for that earlier feeling...I don't somehow think it's time for me to do that quite yet...we'll see. I'll sleep on the bridge until someone comes to relieve me....and someone would be either you Sultana or Mikhel...guess it should be Mikhel as you need to pilot us back and forth eh?
"They didn't tell me anything about Nicola's situation, and I didn't inquire too heavily as I didn't want too get wrapped up in red tape without coming back here first." He nods to Crockett, "Thanks for the weapons status update, I'll make sure to leave everything on the pinnace. Get some rest, I'll send back regular updates as I have them."
"All my errands are going to be on the Highport, for this trip, and initially I'm thinking the tailor, as well. Although, the tourist district on the equator might have some high class establishments. I'll find out for any and all the people who might be interested. Lieutenant, are you still interested in some distance weapon practice or lessons? The range here is good for practice rounds. Getting all the security people into the range at the same time looks like it won't meet with the approval of our Head of Security. But either of us can coach. I've yet to have an answer back from my associate, so I don't have a fixed appointment with him. Depending on how long the station bureaucracy takes, I could be back in about an hour? Do we have a shuttle schedule, and are others listed as wanting transport to the station? Perhaps an intercomm announcement?"
The idea of three individuals doing security watches on the Pioneer, brings back watch shifts on Imperial Ships: Link: Old Navy Watch
[to Mikhel] What time is it now would you say "DOC"? I'd like to get down there before shops and sevices close for day (if in fact they keep a scheduel of their own on Torpol)... so let's say if you and Sultana made it back in 4-5 hrs...that should give me time I need today on Torpol....Any thoughts on what I should be monitoring on the bridge other than standard ship internal security cameras, a watch on sensors for nearby activity, and monitoring of incoming COMMS traffic from two of you...by the way...What are the Captain's wishes and those of our working scientists? I'd like a list of who all departs the ship and who returns on each departure and arrival please?
[to Sultana] and Lieutenant...What's your tentative allowed time for us all here on Torpol? 3 days, 5 days...no more I suspect....
It is currently 350 you want to leave on 356 to give you 7+ days in Jump to Drinax arriving there on 365, the evening before the party on the 1st.
"Do we want time to get a look at the terrain, or jump straight into an offer about which we have no knowledge? There is the deal itself. I have questions about the ship. What kind of ship, and what is its condition? What are the internal politics like, and are we grabbing an unpinned grenade? I would think sooner is better. However, I'm not ready to go. You'll all be better leaving me far in the background as possible as it is. Without some trappings, don't even let me off the ship. Now, for here, I have to get my shabby butt to a tailor, and see if they can do anything to turn this pig's ear into a PleasureStar shirt."
What is the clock Sultana do you make it? 1104-350 and 0945 hrs? So if you and Mikhel departed at 10:00...you would be back for me around 1500 hrs and no later I would hope.Don't forget that as your security officer I'd like to be informed of which others will be travelling down to Torpol each trip....and would like to know if you have any special items you would like me to monitor in your absence? Have we discussed things with the scientist lady -- Elina to see if she could help out as well on the Bridge? She seems to me she is willing to help where she can?
"The sooner away, the sooner back. If we announce a departure and return time to the crew, we can set out, and I can get stuff done. The only thing that might put a wrinkle in things is if I stir up a hornet's nest trying to find an Imperial contact. I'd like to think that getting in touch with the Imerium would only take a query to Station Security. However, if things go in an unexpected direction, having a backup pilot to continue with the ship's schedule would be nice."
"We also don't want to let Torpol Security have too much time unsupervised. Before we know it they'll be saying she was responsible for the theft of the Grand Jewels 3 days ago. I'll be back for you ASAP, Crockett, as soon as we get Dromah clothed and more info on Nicola and if we can do anything about it."
Harrier deck plans and images are shared in FG for you to look at. Those come from data base searches for the type of ship mentioned. Not the actual one you will use but one of these types. So you can plot potential crew needed.
When all Crew that wanted to go that morning were ready, the Voyager makes its second shuttle trip. On arrival at Torpol Highport, Mikhel puts the ship on 'stand-by' and locks it up. He gives an approximate return time to the passengers, and posts a flight plan and departure time with Torpol Traffic. They would post on any Departure screens the planned departure time for any crew wishing to return. Mikhel was hopeful the timing would actually happen. Off to Torpol Security.
Mikhel gets to the Security Office and asks for anyone dealing with External Affairs, or reports/information on events outside of Torpol System. He will ask if anyone had arrived from Marduk in the last 48 hours, and if they has reported the Oghman Raid on Marduk Highport. Whether there have been reports or not, Mikhel will offer any information he can on his observations. Most importantly, as Mikhel would have registered with the Torpol Medical staff as an available DWB medical professional, he will insist that Torpol Medical staff be informed of the press-ganging (kidnapping) of all of Marduk Highport Medical staff. He will offer condolences to any Torpol Staff that had friends/associates among the Marduk staff. If pressed, Mikhel will provide status reports (not details) on any Marduk casualties he personally assisted.
Torpol Security spends time with Mikhel getting his observations on what happened during the pirate raid on Marduk Highport. The Pioneer is one of half a dozen ships that have made their way back to Torpol but the first to stay at the Highport. The others have been freighters who only refueled and either left or plan to leave shortly. The Provosts express their thanks for helping with the tactical questions as well. They comment that it was good of the Pioneer security team to have a way of neutralizing potential borders without lethal means. Mikhel does not correct their assumption about who or how the two pirates were taken down at the airlock. He does not mention the discovery Elina made either. After the security briefing the Medical offices requests Mikhel debrief with them. After he spends an hour or more with them giving his version of events, what his thoughts are on what and who was taken they thank him for all of his forthright assistance. They offer him a two night stay at the downport spa of his choice with up to three guests included for free in gratitude for all of the information he has shared.
Once all that is done, Mikhel will politely, cautiously ask if any Torpol Security has an Imperial contact for passing on the previous information. Mikhel would like to speak with that contact in person, if there is such a person/office.
When asked at the end of all these conversations about getting information to Imperial officials they reassure him they will share all of his reporting with both the Hierate and the Imperium to assist with combating future pirate attacks. They offer to include any report he wants to send to a particular person or office in the next batch of mail that goes out along the Florian Trade Route.
Mikhel will ask, before he leaves, about a person that was escorted from the arrival area by Torpol Security. The person was travelling on the Pioneer, and Mikhel does have some amount of concern about her. He would be very interested in being able to speak with her, if that was possible. He personally, would like to offer that other person aid and assistance, if she requests it. Speaking to her, face-to-face is something Mikhel would insist upon.
Mikhel is escorted to the Security Offices when he insists on seeing Nicola. After a short while he is joined in the Security offices.
Station Security"Hello Dr. Dromah, I am Provost Falx, one of the Starport Administrators. He is dressed in a bright orange robe with a small golden fez on his head, that has a small model of... the starport? on top of it. He is young but seems very confident. He smiles happily at Mikhel. "I am glad to have you here to speak with you. Here please have a drink as we talk. Falx hands Mikhel a drink of something fizzy and orange with just the bare hint of alcohol.
Mikhel will raise the drink to his lips, give it a surreptitious sniff as the rim touches his lip, and place the drink down without imbibing. The drink will be ignored throughout the discussion.
(Provost Falx): He has a similar one in his hand. "I want to thank you personally for all of the reports you have given us today, it is quite illuminating. As you must know we here on Torpol pride ourselves on providing the best experiences we can for our guests. So many of them are on long voyages far from home and we hope to provide all sophonts with comfortable surroundings. he sips his drink smiling at Mikhel warmly "Your reporting will help us determine how to proceed when the .... I hesitate to use too strong of a word but barbarian seems fitting... the explorers from Oghma visit our system again. Of course their depredations have been known for many years in our area but it is always good to have new fresh intelligence, especially from well qualified professionals such as your self. I am happy to see that my associates have already given you a suitable reward for your information. 40,000cr may not seem very extravagant for a seasoned traveller, especially traveling on such a noteworthy ship, but I do hope you get to experience a relaxing time during your stay here." Falx finishes his drink, pours himself another. Mikhel's drink remains untouched.
(Falx)"I know you asked about the young lady who left your ship earlier today that spent some time with our Security team. I can reassure you that she is doing very well and we are giving her every resource we can to ensure that her stay here comfortable. She cannot speak with you now, she has requested to not be required to speak with anyone until we can confirm her situation. When I heard you were here and insisting on speaking with her I did ask if there was any message she wanted to share. She said "tell Mikhel that the Captain was not appreciative of his giving the staff vacation time" and that you would recognize it was really her.
(Falx)"I will give you my word that when she has been able to confirm her situation I will send word to the Pioneer for you. Is there anything else I can help you with Doctor?"
Mikhel will give the Provost a long, appraising look. "My previous stay on Torpol was excellent. Your Proctors were very professional and adept when dealing with disturbances that I attended as a medical first responder. I truly appreciated their economy of process and efficiency. That probably does much to keep unpleasantness from interfering with other guests and visitors. Very subtle and minimal. I was impressed. Additionally, anything I experienced on that visit was impeccable. As to this visit, I was rather surprised at any reward for the information provided, I considered that a civic duty to law and order of the spaceways. I am not sure we will have very much time to do any visits to the surface, this time through, but for necessities.
Leaning forward, and lowering his voice, "Provost Falx. I'm in a bit of a quandary. The young lady in your custody is not well known to me. When things went sideways at Marduk, she sought sanctuary on our ship. There is still disagreement among the Pioneer crew as to the wisdom of allowing her on the ship. However, I am who I am, and as a follower of the Code of Ledriasda, I, let us say, adopt strays. Another turn of phrase could be, 'I have taken it upon myself to become her guardian.' This may not be wise. Some of my crew, including the Captain, may not concur with my interest. However, here we sit. I ask you on these terms. 'What is her situation?'"
(Falx)"The situation is under consideration. As you noted the events at Marduk were very unusual for the Oghma raiders. I wanted to reward you and your crew for providing us with this valuable intelligence so quickly. Those who are coming in system in the near future will likely not be rewarded in such a fashion. I do hope you get to enjoy a stay with us. Your young lady is safe. I will give you my word that when she has been able to confirm her situation I will send word to the Pioneer for you.
Mikhel will give the Provost another long, appraising look. He sighs. "I don't believe I will be taking you up on your offer of hospitality. I now have another quandary with which to deal."
Mikhel stands up and leaves.
1104-350 13:30
Mikhel finally stops to catch a meal and conduct some shopping.
Mikhel will take some time during his meal to do some looking at the station guide, and try to find anything like an Imperial organization. Or, perhaps, Streetwise and any rumor he can recall about Imperial sweeps through the Outrim Void. Maybe the Imperial office won't be the obvious thing, and there is someone collecting information for the Imperium that isn't connected overtly to Torpol Security. Any intelligence organization needs corroborating sources to ensure validity. When some agency starts feeding you stuff, there needs to be a check and balance. And when some agency stops feeding you all together, you need a back-up. Where would that back-up be, on Torpol Station? Hmmm...

Also he wonders what he sees on the Bridge in terms of monitors/sensors or security cameras he should be keeping an eye on for Sultana and what engineering type panel he should keep a watch on to monitor ship's atmosphere and power supply....also COMMS? ]

Pioneer from Voyager Pilot
I have one other errand to check, and I will be back on the Voyager at 14:00 hrs. The filed Flight Plan remains in effect.
Inquiries were not as successful as I'd hoped.
Mikhel thinks over the message from Nicola, and it occurs to him that the Captain may have put a bug in Torpol's ear? Have to confirm that. And fashion advice? No mention of fruit. So, not under duress? Mikhel is not happy.
Mikhel will drop in to the Highport Medical Office to say hello. The previous visit to Torpol, Mikhel had provided his schedule to the medical staff, and mentioned that he was available in emergencies. That had not been required, but he'd met some of the staff, and knew a few on sight. This time was a more somber visit, and to the happy smiles at seeing a fellow professional again, Mikhel's glum looks raised eyebrows.
"I bear distressing news, I'm afraid. Gentle sophonts, Marduk was raided last week by a collection of pirates. Beyond the usual treasures they plundered, the entire medical staff of the station was press-ganged, and are missing. The pirates are purported to be of Oghman origin, so they will likely not be ransomed. I am not familiar enough with this region's politics to suggest what will be done about this. I thought I should bring you word as expediently as possible, as there may be friends and colleagues in the Marduk staff for which you might care. I suspect there will be calls by Marduk for new staff, and I am sure they will be coming shortly. If it isn't mentioned why there are sudden vacancies, now you know. My condolences are offered. I will answer any questions I can, but we left Marduk almost immediately, and did not participate in any of the admin functions or discussions on next steps."
The medical staff is grateful for the news that Mikhel can provide. None of them have any direct relations to the missing people but they will send out inquires to see if any thing can be done. It would most likely mean a direct confrontation with the Oghma raiders.

Pioneer from Voyager Pilot
Will be deviating from filed Flight Plan. Late getting crew and passengers onto Voyager. 15 minutes to arrival.
To Rannogh Protection Services, Torpol Main from M. Dromah, PSV Pioneer
Dear Red Lightning,
Still getting stuff settled with ship and schedules. It may be necessary to drop down to Torpol Downport. Do you know a good tailor? I have to up my game, for professional appearances.
This way, I can mix business, and pleasure.
Anything you want or need from the Highport?
Mikhel
Ship's Doctor, PSV Pioneer
CROCKETT has put together a watch report for Lt Sultana's return to the Pioneer and the Bridge
WATCH REPORT -- Pioneer Bridge
1104-350 10:30 hrs --14:00 hrs
Officer of the Watch: Security Officer Crockett
>> Incoming Communications -- none other than from the "Doc" and Sultana >> Noticeable movements on sensors -- none to report >> Movements or activities aboard Pioneer -- none to report
Time of next watch and officer in charge: unknown at this time (Might depend whether Crockett seeks transport today to Torpol)
Report concludes
"Welcome to Torpol Doc, ready to bring you to my favorite tailor, if he can keep me in threads he can do something for you. Hope you can tell me more about the Pioneer and what is happening on the ship and why Captain Solis has her through this system twice this soon. More over dinner at 17:00 at this address. We can go to my tailor after dinner.

Mikhel doesn't want to leave things unresolved. He goes looking online for someone reputable to look into a person in custody with Torpol Security.
Mihkel Dromah: [SKILL] Streetwise (2D+3) (vs Difficulty 8) [2d6+3 = 9]
[ +1 Effect] [Marginal SUCCESS] 20 minutes. Rolls for Streetwise check on finding a legal representative for Nicola. Someone with smarts and knowledge that can assist her, if she wishes.
Through a video call to a Torpol Highport Advocate office, Mikhel will request that someone go ask the lady, a previous passenger on Pioneer, if she wants representation. If she does, Mikhel will initially post a Cr5000 retainer. More will be available, if required. If the lady refuses any and all assistance, Mikhel will back away, but keep an eye/ear out for news. Perhaps request legal advice as to what the local laws are for custody, and what could be done? Are bonds or 'release on one's own recognizance' allowed? Can someone, or some entity, assure custody, such as M. Dromah, or the Pioneer? If it gets to the Pioneer offering assurances, the Captain will be approached before this is suggested to Torpol Security!
Mikhel does find an Advocate that will go visit with Torpol security and inquire about the status of Nicola. It will take a couple of hours, they will contact him when they have an answer for him.
CROCKETT is not sure if he "knows" what Mikhel is thinking...but if Mikhel's thoughts are known to Crockett re hiring of a lawyer to look into why Nicola was taken into custody on Torpol...he (Crockett) has a thought for Mikhel he might want to consider first. Mikhel might want to seek a private meeting with Crockett either on the Bridge of the Pioneer or in Crockett's cabin. He would do so because he (Mikhel) remembers that while Crockett is first a marine ...he is also son of parents who were in the corporate world and learned a thing or two over family meals....It might save him putting up a retainer to hire a lawyer without knowing first what the charges are!
Torpol has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people.
Gonna take more than someone barely familiar with Imperial law to deal with Torpol.

Crockett, Sultana, Mikhel, Sherris, and Eleni go down to the surface on the next trip by the Voyager. Eleni moderately allays Crockett's objections by saying that the Captain is taking watch duty while the group is gone. She has a shopping list also. They proceed down to the resort that Rannogh indicated.
1104-350 17:00
The group steps off of the Voyager and look around the resort. This looks like a shopping spree exploded with holographic displays highlighting sections where almost any sort of clothing or accessories can be found. Jewelry stores, many off the shelf clothing stores, Crockett spots a 'survialist' clothing store and scoffs at the flimsy nature of such things. Made for dillitants, not actual mud and trenches.
(Eleni)"We all have our comms, Crockett you are our check in person. Sultana when do you want to get back up to the Pioneer? Or are some of us staying down here tonight? I have some supplies to get for our party. glances over at Sherris who is flipping through displays of dresses Remember who is in our circle Looks around to orient herself. "You folks have fun, I am going to get this shopping list finished. Call me when you are finished with your meetings with the tailor. Oh and don't mention our findings to Ronnogh Mikhel, it might make him a bit more nervous than you. she winks at Mikhel and then heads down one of the walkways.
You have about 45 minutes or so before meeting Rannogh here at the shopping district.
"I should probably stay down here in case I'm needed for legal or sartorial advice. I'll place myself at the service of whoever needs me while I'm here." He browses through the list of various clothing and tailor shops available, looking for those that are likely to have both style and substance, not just those that sell junk clothing for high prices. "Here, this one looks promising. The prices are high, and the clothing shown appears to be good quality. And they have a tailor on site, which should hopefully mean they know something about proper fitting."
"And if they advertise here they are looking for clients that will not come back to complain." CLAPS a small furry hand on Sultana's elbow.
"Rannogh here, How are you DOING DOC! Lightly punches Mikhel in his stomach "It is good to see you again. You are on the Pioneer, we might be shipmates again. Captain Solis is considering taking me on, she said she will pass it along to her new Pilot and crew for the final decision. Looks like she is still hiring any old scrapper she finds heh? He give a hearty laugh
"Food first, we talk about why you are here, then we go find a tailor for you. looks over at Sultana "Navy? Did you serve with Doc here?
Sultana reflexively flinches slightly to being unexpectedly grabbed, but quickly covers it with a smile. "Not directly, no, but we ran into each other a while ago." He indicates the clothing store he'd identified, "You know of a better one than this? I don't know the stores here, so I'm at a bit of a disadvantage. You know of any off the advertised track?"
"Yeah, I have you covered.... raised eyebrow "I am going to guess... Cornell? You still like Sir? Or are you like Doc here? I am Rannogh, a friend of the Pioneer from a bit back, knocked around a few places, here on Torpol until I find a better ship to ride to a new place. Captain Solis keeps moving, it is a good fit for me. We can do clothing, something that fits well, will last more than a dinner or two. Tell me over dinner what you are looking for, where do you plan on wearing your fancy new clothes?
Rannogh leads you down a walkway and around a corner to a steak house where they serve five centimeter thick filets
Sultana follows along. "Yes, we need to get Dromah here and the others all togged up to the nines. We lucked into some tickets to a special event next system over."
"Very nice to see you again, Red. Yeah, if you are looking at hiring on to the Pioneer, I could provide a reference. Although that may not be the favour it sounds like. Last recommendation is still a bit of a question mark to some. But, I would like a recommendation on a good business suit. When I first met you, your suit for work looked nice enough. But, additionally, I may need something for a fancy Holiday bash for very elevated social classes. If you have some place that can do both, it could save some time, if not money."
Rannogh tucking into his steak gives a grin "Fancy holiday party? Not here at Torpol? Lucky man, you really got invited to the floating palace? You must have saved the someone important. Or you have a story to tell? you in a band now? Interesting, only like a thousand people get to attend the party in the floating palace. takes another bite and thinks as he chews "That will be fun to see you all spiffed up like that. What colors? Pioneer is still white right? At least under that other stuff. You need gold accents, can't do too much orange, or they will think you are from here. Any of you have a favorite color? Want dessert?"
Mikhel considers the meal and the real possibilities of postprandial somnolence (more commonly expressed as a 'meat induced coma'). "I think I'll pass on dessert. I should have remembered this place from our last visit.
As to the soirée, I can't say whether we are lucky, or doomed. That remains to be seen. With some help, we'll, at least, die well dressed. Sad thing is, if you get hired, you're coming along with us. My parents will be so amused, or on second thought, perhaps angry at the waste of money on something nearly useless.
I was thinking navy midnight blue, or Marine maroon. Maybe mostly midnight blue, with some minor trim in maroon. Not the Imperial Marine style of mess kit, as I am considering a step away from the reputation of violence.
[Jim has been away for long weekend]
[When Crockett finds himself talking to Tailor] "Hey there 'Tailor person'....I am going to same event as Mikhel here and just want to look different...although also a former STAR MARINE....I don't need the military look....just appropriately dressed for the occasion...
[After Crockett is done with tailor he wants to go to appropriate Starport office to get list of spaceships/vessels currently docked at starport]
Mikhel will check out the available styles that could be ready in five days, if they can manage the time factor. One suit only, if there isn't time for two, and the priority would be the occasion suit. Appropriate dress hightop boots, and shirt. Cummerbund or waistcoat, depending on current fashion. Maybe, colored tie, with the medical red crystal motif.
(Clib)"I have been dressing old and young men for more occasions than you can think of. I will take your measurements now you will return in the morning for color choices. You mentioned five of you? Who is your fifth? You will need to bring them tomorrow morning first thing, no later than 6:00 if you want this done properly."
"I will have options in the morning, we make choices, I will fabricate the materials, tailor them for you, and have all five done in four days starting tomorrow. 500 credits is my base price, each, bring it tomorrow."
He then starts positioning each of you on a short pedestal and does laser measurements of you without any clothing on. This takes about an hour for all four of you.
Yes "Doc"... who is the 5th? I'm curious also....
"If the Captain is looking for something new, I believe she is the fifth? Or Eleni, but she may be looking for something elsewhere? She said to contact her when we were done with the tailor, so I'm guessing she has other plans. We could send a full body scan, if it is either person and they can't attend tomorrow."
"Also, Clib, if you don't have anything in the line of clubbing wear, is there a shop that does fashion of a flashier nature?
(Clib)"No I do not do trendy good only for a month fast fashion. Your friend here " tweaks Rannoigh's tail out of the way " he knows about those sorts of places. Also I would prefer to have your person come here to be scanned. Either this Eleni person or Captain who ever he is."
The package deal:

Dress Pants (TL 5+): Standard trousers for a dress suit. Cost Cr 70. Mass 2kg.
Dress Vest (TL 5+): A sleeveless waistcoat worn between the dress shirt and dress jacket. Cost Cr 50. Mass 1kg. May be substituted for Cummerbund.
Dress Shirt (TL 5+): Somewhat more flamboyant silk shirt with ruffed front, sharp lapels and cuffs. For the more extravagant and flamboyant Travellers, Nobles and other eccentrics. Cost Cr 45. Mass 1200g.
Dress Boots (High–top Slip–On) (TL 5+): Shiny uniform boots. Worn with full dress uniform for ceremonial occasions. Cost Cr 70. Mass 2kg.
Dress Tie: Bow tie. Cost Cr. 25. Mass 5g.
Cufflinks and Shirt Studs: Truly high fashion dress shirts don't have standard buttons and fasteners. Military mess kit shirts have finished holes in the shirt for unit or branch cufflinks and studs to hold the shirt closed. These can be cheap metal for enlisted personnel, up to very ornate precious metals for high ranking officers, and even gems for the noblility. Cost Cr.40 to thousands. Mikhel would opt for, at least, silver, or white gold, and some type of medical symbology on the cufflinks and studs (if available).
Prices above are standard for individual pieces, if bought separately, and of normal quality. The package deal from Clib may vary.
[Crockett is prepared to pay up to 600 credits for the tailor's package...think it comes to 500 at moment if purchased separately...wonder what package price will be...In any event Crockett wants to get this done and move on....It's after dinner and he's ready to return to the PIONEER for a shift on the bridge...
Sultana poses for his measurement scanning and picks out appropriate colors for the occasion. He also makes sure that a belt for his saber will fit on the outfit if it's required and/or appropriate for the party. The ankle sheath for his knife probably won't fit inside the dress boots, but he has a forearm sheath as well, just in case he feels he needs it (hopefully not, but best to be prepared). The dress jacket should also have an attachment point for any medals he may choose to bling himself up with.
Mikhel picks out some appropriate dark blue fabric and trim for his suit, and a current fashion dress shirt, with Nika's input. If footwear is available, Mikhel will need dress footwear, as well. All the trimmings may require more than the Cr500, and Mikhel will ask Clib to use his discretion, so that Mikhel will look the part of a successful medical professional.
Oh! Yes! Almost a face-palm moment. Mikhel will need a tasteful carry bag or satchel. Most dress occasions don't include 'tools', but Mikhel is different. He will need that little 'extra' fashion item, as throwing his usual medikit satchel (shows Clib the utility shoulder bag he has with him. Clib shudders!) over a well-tailored suit wouldn't cut the proper figure, and asks for a source of such things. This, if well made and containing protective capabilities, will not be part of the package. Something in the +Cr200 (or lots more) is what Mikhel would want (Mikhel shudders thinking about money thrown away for 'appearances').
"We have done as much here as possible, for now. If our schedule allows, do we now carouse?"
Somewhere in the next 24 hours, Mikhel checks out Drinax for issues. Half normal gravity (Yay for Mikhel), but thin to very thin atmosphere. No other alerts appear, ATM. Oh. Crockett will be annoyed. Another high law level.
[Crockett leaves selection of necessary items to tailor and just wants the final fitting and the bill.] Somewhere also in next 24 hours, Crockett hears the report from Mikhel about law level on Drinax and IS ANNOYED - as predicted. "How can the bad guys be kept in check if the good guys aren't allowed to carry weapons? It used to be that the 'ancients' on Earth could carry guns into public theatres, schools, grocery stores wherever as long as they had a permit! "
"Hey Doc....[assuming we're both still at tailor's...and its after dinner] What's the hour? I'm thinking we should wrap up for today and get fittings in morning...Think it's time we get back to the Pioneer...Sultana must be getting anxious [unless he too is still at tailor's???]
"Yes, let's get these fittings over with before it gets too late. I have better uses of my time."
"I want to eat some local cuisine for dinner, get a little variety before going back to shipboard cooking. You're welcome to go with me, or split off for your own, and we can meet back up after to go back to Pioneer." He thanks the tailor for his time and heads out into Downport.
1104-350 22:00
Sometime after getting back to the ship, Mikhel will have a word with Captain Solis. He will advise her of the conversation he had with Administrator, Provost Falx, and the lack of reciprocal information. Mikhel won't mention anything about the offer of benefits or hospitality. Mikhel will advise Captain Solis that he retained an Advocate at his own expense for the young lady, and doesn't expect the ship to cover any of that cost. He will attempt to sound out if the Captain had any part in the young lady being retained by local security, as he provides his feeling that there may be more here than appears. Mikhel will speculate that the young lady is already an agent for someone. He is fairly sure it isn't the Imperium.
After relieving Crockett's anxiety by letting him take back over watch, Athena addressed Mikhel's concern with limited worry of her own.
"Nicola has proven to be resourceful, Doctor. She can seek out help if she needs it, but, perhaps, she wants to figure this out on her own. She managed to escape Marduk. I'm certain she'll find a way out of Torpol if she finds herself in trouble. Unless it directly impacts the Pioneer, or you, I would suggest taking a step back and seeing how it plays out. You gave her more options, but she needs to make her own path."
"Captain, I am at that point. The Advocate was just to provide her with options, and the way the Advocate was hired was to support Nicola as she wished. I ensured the Advocate knew that regardless of who was pay the bill, the client was Nicola. Hopefully, we hear something positive back. Thank you for your time and attention. Sorry if this causes any concerns for you or the ship."
Mikhel will take his leave, and get some sleep before the next bridge watch.
[Crockett confused...at 22:00 is he still at tailor's?...has Sultana been contacted for a transfer back to Pioneer as it is end of day? ....and where is Sultana? i.e. I saw no posting regarding "bridge watch"....If Sultana was running ferry service for Mikhel and Crockett...who has been minding bridge? Crockett is always mindful of ship security as #1 priority. When at a starport what happens to ship's crew is not his responsibility he figures. The ship itself is.]
[Private Post to Mikhel] Re your old acquaintance joining crew from security point of view. If you're vouching I'm in favour! That simple. Having said that...wouldn't mind knowing where all Rannogh fellow has been last 10 years?
Mikhel is thinking that he'd not recommend anyone for hire, considering he is still dealing with the last individual for whom he vouched. And not in a positive way.
Sultana is relaxed in a chair (possibly on the Bridge if it's his turn at watch), reading one of the books he picked up on Torpol. He also picked up a few resources on the politics and planets of the region, but hasn't cracked any of those open yet. They're for Jump.
